From The Metro’s piece about “What’s Sexy?” in the age of “real beauty.” Alright, we have SOME substance here. We’re almost getting there. The real message is buried in their, but ugh! The intro…just, NO!
NEWS FLASH! The media DOES NOT get to define what’s “normal.” Normal is non-existent. By saying that one type of body is “real” or “normal”, we’re implicating that all other types are not. ALL BODIES ARE REAL!
Do we even understand what the word real means? It’s like saying, oh you’re too “boney” or you’re too “muscular” so you just don’t exist. That makes no sense.
"True beauty is defined by a healthy lifestyle and a genuine personality. Bodies are just meaty things that carry our personhoods around for us.” AMEN! Thank you, Jennie Runk.
